Endoscopy identified gastric ulceration. Chest imaging (figures 1 and 2) and subsequent surgical biopsy confirmed pulmonary chondromas (figures 3 and 4). These benign cartilaginous tumours, typically found in young women, can form part of ‘Carney’s triad’ with gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs) and paraganglioma. Twenty-one years later, she developed further gastric ulceration,

Lung abscess complicating chondromas in Carney's syndrome.
Carney's syndrome consists of a combination of three rare tumours: gastric leiomyosarcoma, pulmonary chondroma and catecholamine-secreting paraganglioma. We describe a young woman with Carney's syndrome, who developed a lung abscess, due to obstruction of a bronchus by a chondroma, 11 yrs after having had a partial gastrectomy for a leiomyosarcoma.

A 31-year-old woman presented with a 6-month history of dyspnea and posterior chest pain. Chest radiography demonstrated the presence of two round calcified pulmonary lesions. Results of physical examination and laboratory tests were normal. Chest computed tomography (CT) showed a well-circumscribed mass measuring 6 × 4 cm and a nodule with a diameter of 3 cm, both heavily calcified (Fig. 1A an...
متن کاملA new variant of Carney's triad: phaeochromocytoma and chondrosarcoma.
A 61 year old hypertensive woman presented in 1986 with a right scapular chondrosarcoma. She developed type 1 diabetes mellitus in 1991 and suffered a stroke in 1991. Chest radiography showed pulmonary metastases in 1997. Further radiological staging detected a right sided phaeochromocytoma, which was subsequently removed in 1998. Before this, repeated urine estimations of vanillylmandelic acid...
متن کاملEndobronchial chondromas.
Endobronchial chondromas are rare benign tumors. They may be part of the Carney triad; however, isolated endobronchial chondromas can occur in the larynx, trachea, and bronchi. We report a case of an endobronchial chondroma in a 61-y-old man with an incidental 5-mm endobronchial polypoid lesion at the proximal left main bronchus that was later found to be an endobronchial chondroma. Flexible br...
متن کاملChondroma of Cerebral Falx: A Rare Intracranial Diagnosis.
Chondromas are benign tumors which mostly occur in extremities but also sometimes in the cranium. Intracerebral chondroma is rare condition. Most intracranial chondromas arise from skull base, but chondroma of falx origin is a rare entity and mostly occurs in relation with syndromic disorders such as Mafucci's syndrome or Ollier's syndrome. Here, we report a rare case of falcine intracranial ch...
